Ingrown Nails

An ingrown nail occurs when the nail grows into the skin, causing pain and swelling. The doctor may trim or remove the ingrown nail, or in severe cases, perform a partial or full nail removal. Local anesthesia is used, and antibiotic ointments and dressings are applied afterward to prevent infection and aid healing.
