Subungual Hematoma

A subungual hematoma is blood pooling under a nail due to trauma, causing pain. The doctor relieves pressure by creating a small hole in the nail to drain the blood using a heated needle, laser, or drill. Local anesthesia may be used, and afterward, the nail is cleaned and bandaged.
